Gregoria Mariska Tunjung Biography

Gregoria's passion for badminton started when she watched Thomas and Uber Cup matches on television during her primary school years. She asked her father for a racket and joined a local badminton club in the second grade. Her father was her first coach and a significant influence on her career.

Training and Coaching

Currently, Gregoria trains twice a day and often swims after training sessions to aid recovery. She is right-handed and is coached by Indra Wijaya at the national level. Her dedication to training has been evident throughout her career.

Memorable Achievements

One of Gregoria's most memorable achievements was winning her first gold medal at age eight during a private tournament in Yogyakarta. She recalls feeling like the happiest kid in the world at that moment.

Gregoria cites her parents as the most influential people in her career. She also looks up to Indonesian badminton player Taufik Hidayat, Japanese player Nozomi Okuhara, and Thai player Ratchanok Intanon as her idols.

Injuries and Challenges

In 2020, she sustained a back injury, and in 2019, she injured her left foot during the South East Asian Games. Additionally, she suffered a recurring hip muscle injury at the 2018 Denmark Open.
