Håkan Dahlby Biography

Dahlby represents JRF Nykvarn and Sodertalje JSK clubs in Sweden. His right-handed shooting skills have been honed under the guidance of Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Hasher Al Maktoum. Over the years, Dahlby has achieved notable success, including being named Shooter of the Year by the Swedish Sportshooting Federation in 2006 and 2007.

Olympic Journey

Although Dahlby missed qualifying for the 2016 Olympic Games at the World Championships in Lonato, Italy, he was awarded a quota spot by the Swedish Olympic Committee (SOK) in May 2016. This quota was initially secured for women's air rifle by Michaela Arvidsson at the 2015 World Cup event in Changwon, Republic of Korea. However, SOK decided to switch it to double trap due to Dahlby's top-eight world ranking.

Expressing his gratitude, Dahlby said, "I apologise to the whole rifle community of Sweden. This was really not the way I thought it would go and it's not the way it's supposed to be. But the SOK have approved of my achievements and it is enough to send me to the Olympics. I am very much looking forward to it."

Personal Life and Interests

Dahlby resides in Stockholm with his wife Charlotta and son Oskar. Fluent in English, German, Spanish, and Swedish, he enjoys producing music and performing DJ sets during his free time. His diverse interests extend beyond sports as he competed in the Swedish televised dancing competition 'Let's Dance' in 2013.

Advocacy and Ambitions

Dahlby has also served as an ambassador for 'Clean Athletes', an organisation campaigning against doping in sports. Looking ahead, he aims to continue representing Sweden on international platforms while promoting clean sportsmanship.

Håkan Dahlby's journey from a young shooter to an accomplished athlete reflects his dedication and passion for clay target shooting. His achievements and advocacy efforts continue to inspire many within and beyond the sports community.
