Parchment has achieved several national firsts for Jamaica. He became the first Jamaican to win a medal in the 110m hurdles at both the Olympic Games and World Championships. He claimed bronze in London in 2012 and silver in Beijing in 2015.

In 2014, he set another record by becoming the first Jamaican to run the 110m hurdles in under 13 seconds, clocking 12.94 seconds at the Diamond League event in Paris.
