India will take on a rampant Malaysia team in the 9th match of the ongoing Asian Champions Trophy 2023. The match will kick start at 8:30 PM at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai.
Malaysia are leading the six-team table with two wins in as many games. They defeated Pakistan 3-1 to kick off their campaign before breezing past China with a 5-1 win.

Tokyo Olympics bronze medallists India, ran riot in the first match with a 7-2 win over China. On Friday, they were held to a 1-1 draw against reigning Asian Games champions Japan. Captain Harmanpreet Singh is leading the goal chart for India, having netted thrice in two games.

A clinical performance from Harmanpreet Singh and his band as they didn't just score, they were also brilliant in defence. Coach Kraig Fulton and captain Harmanpreet were near perfect in their game plans and ensured their penalty corner conversions were good. The Men In Blue also scored a couple of sensational field goals. It was the Tamil Nadu-lad Karthi Selvam who gave India the lead - seconds before the close of first quarter - and his team didn't look back since then. The hosts remain unbeaten in the tournament and with that win, they've even climbed to the top of points table.

Goallll! PC for India in 54th minute and Jugraj Singh converts it. Jugraj has scored an international goal after a long-long time. Indians now take a 5-0 lead against Malaysia, who are all over the places.
53' Good backhander from Mandeep Singh in the circle and an alert Gurjant Singh gets the deflection to give his team a 4-0 lead.
Indians get two Penalty Corners in quick succession as they continue to make circle penetrations. They've got three penalty corners in the final quarter but couldn't hit the target on all occasions.
Mohammad Hassan gets a yellow card booking for colliding with Indian player Akashdeep Singh. Hassan also got injured in the process. Hassan left off the pitch.
End of the third quarter and India have maintained a 3-0 lead. It was a productive quarter for the hosts. They've had a productive 15 minutes and managed to convert two penalty corners. Malaysia got a goal via PC but it was termed dangerous.
Good response from Malaysian players after going 0-3 down in the match. They've had good ball possessions at the close of third quarter and continue to test Indian defence.

37'! Bad news for India as two of their players are off the pitch. Nilkanta Sharma suffered a yellow card earlier to remain out of the pitch for 5 minutes and now Vivek - will stay off for another 2 minutes.
36' Goal! Malaysia get a penalty corner. Sreejesh has to defend it. Malaysian dragflicker converted it but the umpire reviewed it to check if it was a dangerous shot and the video referee found it to be a dangerous one. No lead for Malaysia and India get a free-hit.
32'! Goal! Hardik Singh converts the penalty corner for the Indians and with that, the hosts have doubled the lead. Good injection from Harmanpreet Singh, the goalkeeper tried to save it in the first attack but Hardik was alert to strike. India 2-0 Malaysia

Second Half Begins! The Indian coach Kraig Fulton expects his players to be a little more attacking and extend the lead against Malaysia who are looking for an equaliser.
Half-Time in Chennai! India have maintained the slender one-goal lead over Malaysia and go into halftime 1-0. The Indians have had their chances in the second quarter but failed to convert it into goals.
28'! A good ariel pass from Varun but Jarmanpreet fails to collect it properly at the edge of the circle. Akashdeep tried to strike it towards the goalpost but it was a little wayward.
We are four minutes away from the half-time and the Malaysian strikers are getting a lot of empty spaces to pass the ball amongst themselves in the opposition's half and the Indian defenders are playing the waiting game.
21'! India get two penalty corners but failed to convert them. The injection in the first attempt was good but they failed to hit the nets. In the second attempt, Harmanpreet's injection was poor and the hosts again missed the opportunity to extend their lead.

The second quarter begins! Indians have taken the lead and the Malaysians are looking to counter-attack and penetrate inside India's circle. 9150-plus people are in attendance at the Mayor Radhakrishnan Stadium in Chennai tonight to cheer for the local team.
14'! Goal! Local boy Karthi Selvam gives India the lead at the stroke of first quarter with a stunning goal in the circle. It was a perfect pass of nearly 40 meters from skipper Harmanpreet Singh and Karthi netted it brilliantly to give the hosts a lead 35 seconds before the end of the first quarter. The crowd is elated and India take 1-0 lead.
13'! Malaysian attackers made a circle entry and the striker hits towards the goalpost but the goalie was alert to defend it.
Sumit attempts a tomahawk from the edge of the circle from the right flank but Gurjant and others missed to collect and deflect the ball. It goes out of bounds.
7' Malaysian player Fitri Sari gets a green card early in the game and he has to sit on the bench for the next couple of minutes.
Indian strikers have cleared their intentions early as they made the penetration and almost got an early lead. The circle entries from India are good in the first five minutes of the opening quarter.
