Born in Santander, Spain, the athlete began his sailing journey at the age of seven. His first boat was an Optimist, and he started sailing with Club Nautico Hondarribia. Inspired by his family, he received a boat as a birthday present, which sparked his passion for the sport.

In 2016, he sustained a knee injury during the World Championships in Clearwater, Florida. This injury kept him out of competition for over two months, affecting his chances of participating in the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
