Ivana trains with Akademija Maksimovic in Serbia, under the guidance of her father and coach, Goran Maksimovic. Goran is a former Olympic shooter who competed in five consecutive Olympic Games from 1984 to 2000, winning gold in the 10m air rifle at the 1988 Seoul Games.
Ivana’s most memorable sporting achievement is winning silver at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. This accomplishment earned her the nickname "Silver Lady." Despite numerous second and third-place finishes, she broke this streak by winning gold in the 50m rifle 3 positions at the 2015 European Championships in Maribor, Slovenia.
However, Ivana faced challenges as well. In 2015, she was disqualified from the 50m rifle 3 positions at the World Cup event in Fort Benning, USA. Judges ruled that her jacket was too thick. Ivana found this decision strange and unprecedented.
Ivana credits her mother as the most influential person in her career. Her sporting hero is Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic. Ivana’s sporting philosophy is simple yet powerful: "Get up and never give up."
The International Shooting Sport Federation named Ivana as Athlete Role Model for shooting at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing. This recognition highlights her influence and dedication to the sport.
Outside of shooting, Ivana enjoys dancing and travelling. These hobbies provide a balance to her rigorous training schedule.
Looking ahead, Ivana aims to continue her success in shooting sports. Her immediate goal is to secure more victories on the international stage.
