Ivana Španovic Biography

Spanovic's mother played a crucial role in her career. Initially coached by Jani Hajdu, her mother's coach, Spanovic explored various sports including karate, handball, and volleyball. Throughout her career, Spanovic has faced several injuries. In June 2020, she fractured a metatarsal bone in her right foot during training. She recovered after two months. In September 2019, a hamstring injury prevented her from competing at the world championships in Doha.

Earlier that year, she suffered a heel injury that sidelined her until late August. In August 2018, she ruptured her Achilles tendon at the European Championships in Berlin. This injury took six months to heal. In August 2011, she fractured a bone in her foot during training, requiring ten months of rehabilitation.

Spanovic has received numerous awards and honours throughout her career. In 2018, she was honoured with the Order of Petrovic Njegos by the president of Serbia. The previous year, she received the Order of Karadorde's Star.
