Jasna Šekarić, a renowned athlete, began her shooting career in 1981 in Osijek, Croatia. Initially involved in handball, she discovered shooting by chance when her sports teacher selected her to represent her school. She enjoyed it and decided to continue training.

She represents Red Star Belgrade and is coached by Jelena Arunovic at the national level and Ivan Kvasnevski personally. She shoots with her right eye and right hand.
Her family has been the most influential in her career. Outside of sports, she enjoys photography.
Šekarić has received numerous accolades. She was the flag bearer for Serbia at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) named her Shooter of the Year in 1990, 1994, and 2005. In 2000, she was crowned ISSF Shooter of the 20th Century.
She has competed in seven Olympic Games under four different flags. Her debut was at the 1988 Seoul Games under Yugoslavia. She also competed as an Independent Olympic Participant and represented Serbia and Montenegro at the 2004 Athens Games. She represented Serbia at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics.
Šekarić aims to make her eighth Olympic appearance at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games. She admits it will likely be her last time competing at the event. Post-retirement, she plans to coach other shooters, including her daughter Leu.
"Going to Rio makes me almost as happy as going to the first one but it's time to retire," she said. "It is enough from my side. Of course it doesn't decrease my desire to do my best and to qualify for the final."
