Burroughs made his international debut in 2011, competing for the United States. He quickly rose to prominence, becoming the second US wrestler after John Smith to win three consecutive world championship titles from 2011 to 2013. In 2011, he also became the fourth US wrestler to win both an NCAA title and a world championship title in the same year.

Challenges and Injuries

Throughout his career, Burroughs faced several injuries. In 2013, he broke his ankle during training but still managed to secure his third consecutive world title after surgery. He also sprained his medial cruciate ligament in 2014 but won bronze at the World Championships. In 2015, he required stitches above his left eye during the World Championships.
