Kate initially pursued gymnastics but later shifted to CrossFit in early 2015. By August 2015, she competed in weightlifting for the first time. Her initial aim was to enhance her CrossFit performance, but she fell in love with weightlifting after competing nationally.

Training and Coaching

Kate trains six to eight times a week and ensures she has one full rest day. She has been coached by Spencer Arnold since 2021 at Power and Grace Performance in Suwanee, Georgia, USA.

Achievements and Recognition

In 2019, Kate was named Female Lifter of the Year by the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF). This accolade highlights her dedication and skill in the sport.

Challenges and Injuries

Kate faced a back injury in early 2021 that sidelined her for three weeks. Despite this setback, she continued to push forward with her training and competitions.

Mental Health Journey

In August 2019, Kate revealed her diagnosis of bipolar II disorder and mild ADHD. She shared that these conditions affected her moods, sleep patterns, and overall well-being. With medication and support from her doctors, she has learned to manage her symptoms better.

Body Transformation

Between February 2018 and August 2019, Kate gained about 12 kilograms to achieve her goal of making it to the 2020 Olympics. She admitted that this transformation was challenging but necessary for her success as a weightlifter.

Kate is married to Noah Nye. She speaks English fluently and is inspired by US weightlifters Morghan King, Sarah Robles, and Jenny Arthur.
