Katrine Lunde, a prominent handball goalkeeper, has been a significant figure in the sport since she began playing at age eight. She was named in the All-Star team at the European Championship in 2008, 2010, and 2012. Additionally, she was part of the All-Star team at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing. In 2009, she was honoured as the Female Athlete of the Year and Team Player of the Year during Norway's Sports Gala.
Despite her successes, Lunde faced significant challenges. In mid-2020, she struggled with an eye injury. Earlier, during the final four of the 2018/19 Champions League season, she suffered a knee ligament injury. This required three surgeries and sidelined her for almost a year.
During her recovery from the knee injury, Lunde took on a coaching role at Vipers Kristiansand for the 2019/20 season. She succeeded her twin sister Kristine in this role, who had served as assistant coach in the previous season.
Lunde resides in Kristiansand, Norway, with her partner Nikola Trajkovic and their daughter Atina, born in 2015. She speaks English and Norwegian fluently. Her family has been a significant influence throughout her career.
Lunde pursued Social Work Studies at the University of Agder in Kristiansand. Outside of handball, she enjoys listening to music and watching television.
Lunde's twin sister Kristine was part of the Norwegian handball team that won gold at the Olympic Games in 2008 and 2012. Her partner Nikola Trajkovic has played professional football and served as head coach of Swedish club Floy IL.
In recognition of her 300th appearance for the Norwegian national team during the 2020 European Championship in Denmark, Lunde received a piece of jewellery from her national teammates. The jewellery featured the letter 'A' in honour of her daughter Atina.
