Kimia Alizadeh Biography

Alizadeh trains at the Tigers Taekwondo Academy in London, England. Her coach, Davoud Etminani, has been instrumental in her development. The academy has provided her with the necessary environment to hone her skills and compete at the highest levels.

Challenges and Injuries

Alizadeh has faced several injuries throughout her career. In September 2017, she underwent surgery for a torn ACL in her knee, sidelining her for six months. Another ACL tear in August 2018 caused her to miss the Asian Games in Indonesia. After the 2016 Rio Olympics, she had surgery on her left ankle and knee, resulting in an eight-month recovery period.

Achievements and Milestones

Alizadeh's achievements are noteworthy. She was Iran's flag bearer at the 2014 Youth Olympic Games in Nanjing and the 2017 World Championships in Muju. Her most significant accomplishment came at the 2016 Rio Olympics, where she won a bronze medal in the -57kg category. This made her the first female athlete from Iran to win an Olympic medal.
