Vivian began fencing at age 11 after trying various sports like dancing, taekwondo, and ice skating. Her father suggested fencing, describing it as the ballet of sports. This elegant sport captivated her, leading her to pursue it seriously.

She trains at the Hong Kong Sports Institute under coaches Zheng Kangzhao from China and Octavian Zidaru from Romania. Known for her left-handed technique, Vivian has earned the nickname "Queen of Swords".

Achievements and Challenges

Vivian was named Female Athlete of the Year by the Hong Kong Sports Press Association in 2019. She also had the honour of being the flag bearer for Hong Kong at the 2018 Asian Games in Indonesia.

However, her journey has not been without challenges. She underwent surgery for a torn ACL in her right knee during the 2019 World Championships in Budapest. Earlier, in August 2017, she had surgery on her left knee's ACL.

Influences and Philosophy

Vivian credits her friends and family as the most influential people in her career. She looks up to Romanian fencer Ana Maria Popescu as her idol. Her sporting philosophy is simple: "I'm always sad when I lose but I try to recover as quickly as possible and get back to training."

Personal Interests

Outside of fencing, Vivian enjoys cooking, playing the piano, painting, and practising yoga. These hobbies provide a balance to her rigorous training schedule.

Future Ambitions

Looking ahead, Vivian aims to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. This goal drives her daily training and preparation.
