Lachlan Tame Biography

In December 2010, Tame attended his first kayaking regatta in Adelaide, Australia. Despite falling out of the kayak with his first stroke, he persevered. He is now a member of the Avoca Kayak Club and is coached by Jimmy Owens.

Achievements and Influences

Tame's most memorable sporting achievement is winning a bronze medal in the men's K2 1000m at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. His coach, Matt Jones, has been the most influential person in his career. Tame idolises Australian surf ski racer Pete Scott.

Challenges and Recovery

In May 2018, Tame underwent surgery on his right shoulder due to an injury sustained during training. This injury hampered his plans to rejoin the national team in 2018. Despite this setback, he returned to competition in early 2019 after a two-year break.

Philosophy and Hobbies

Tame lives by the motto, "There are no shortcuts to a place worth going." He enjoys surfing and has won Australian national titles in surf ski racing. In 2015, he was inducted into the Surf Life Saving Australia Hall of Fame.
