Laura pursued higher education in Philosophy and Politics at Bristol University in England. Her parents have been the most influential figures in her career, guiding her through her journey in equestrian sports.

One of Laura's most memorable achievements is winning team gold and individual bronze at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. She has also been honoured with several awards, including an honorary degree from Bristol University in 2013 for her services to equestrianism. Laura is married to Mark Tomlinson, who has represented England in polo at the Coronation Cup. They have four children: daughters Annalisa (born 2014) and Hanni (born 2019), and sons Wilfred (born 2017) and Tommy (born 2021). Her father, Wilfried Bechtolsheimer, rode for Great Britain, and her grandfather, Karl-Heinz Kipp, became a billionaire through his Massa retail business.
