Lei Chien-Ying Biography

Lei resides in Chinese Taipei and is both an athlete and a student. She is currently studying Sport Studies at Taiwan Normal University. Her dedication to education extends further as she is also pursuing a doctorate in the same field at the same university.

Club and Coaching

Lei represents New Taipei Caesar and Taiwan Normal University in archery competitions. She trains under the guidance of coaches Lin Chien-Hsien, Liu Chan-Ming, and Liu Ping-Hung. Her right-handed technique has been honed through years of practice and dedication.

Achievements and Milestones

Lei has achieved numerous accolades throughout her career. She was part of the Chinese Taipei women's recurve team that won gold at the 2019 World Championships in 's-Hertogenbosch, Netherlands. This victory earned them the title of Sports Team of the Year at the 2019 Sports Elite Awards in Taipei.

In 2016, Lei and her team won a bronze medal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. This achievement also led to them being named Sports Team of the Year at the 2016 Sports Elite Awards in Taipei.

Individually, Lei made history by becoming the first archer from Chinese Taipei to win an individual gold medal at the World Championships in 2019. Alongside teammates Tan Ya-Ting and Peng Chia-Mao, she also secured team recurve gold at the same event.

Personal Interests and Philosophy

Outside of archery, Lei enjoys reading and listening to music. She looks up to Yuan Shu-Chi, a fellow archer from Chinese Taipei. Her sporting philosophy is simple yet profound: "We can't control whether we win or lose. But I can control how hard I work."

Challenges Faced

In October 2020, Lei suffered an injury to her left ankle. Despite this setback, she continued to train and compete, demonstrating her resilience and commitment to the sport.

Future Ambitions

Looking ahead, Lei aims to compete at the 2022 Asian Games in Hangzhou, People's Republic of China. This goal reflects her ongoing dedication to representing Chinese Taipei on international platforms.
