Liliyana Natsir, a prominent Indonesian badminton player, has made significant strides in her sport. Born in Manado, Indonesia, she began her journey at the Pisok Badminton Club at age nine. One of Natsir's most memorable achievements was winning a silver medal in mixed doubles with Nova Widianto at the 2008 Beijing Olympics. She also became the first badminton player to win four mixed doubles world championship titles, with victories in 2005, 2007, 2013, and 2017.
Throughout her career, Natsir faced several injuries, including ankle and elbow issues. Despite these setbacks, she remained resilient. Her family and coach Richard Mainaky were significant influences in her career. She also admired Korean badminton player Kim Dong-Moon.
Outside of badminton, Natsir enjoys watching movies, playing the piano, and cooking. She is fluent in English and Indonesian and resides in Jakarta. Besides being an athlete, she works as a civil servant for Indonesia's Ministry of Youth and Sports.
