Haratyk's interest in shot put was sparked by his older brother Lukasz, who also trained in the sport. Lukasz represented Poland in athletics and competed in shot put at the 2009 European U23 Championships in Kaunas, Lithuania. This familial influence played a crucial role in shaping Michał's career.

Michał Haratyk's career highlights include winning gold medals at the 2019 European Indoor Championships in Glasgow, Scotland, and the 2018 European Championships in Berlin, Germany. These victories stand as testaments to his skill and dedication.

However, his journey has not been without challenges. In August 2019, Haratyk began experiencing injuries to his right elbow and wrist. These injuries affected his preparations for the 2019 World Championships in Doha, Qatar. He underwent surgery in October 2019 and returned to training after two months.

Training and Technique

The COVID-19 pandemic provided Haratyk with an unexpected opportunity to refine his technique and physical strength. He focused on improving his hip movement and overall technique during this period. "I was throwing only 18 metres in training because I was making sure that everything was set technically perfect," he said.

Haratyk also worked on strengthening his legs and upper body. Despite these efforts, he acknowledges that there is still a gap between him and his rivals in terms of strength. "Joe Kovacs uploaded a picture of him with 270 kilograms on the bar and he looked quite relaxed," Haratyk noted.

Since 2009, Michał Haratyk has been coached by Piotr Galon at the KS Sprint Bielsko-Biala club. Under Galon's guidance, Haratyk has honed his skills and achieved significant milestones in his career.
