Tentoglou trains six days a week under the guidance of his personal coach, Georgi Pomaski from Bulgaria. Before the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, he moved to Athens to train with Pomaski. Tentoglou describes their relationship as akin to that of a father and son. This move helped him mature as an athlete.
