The Asian Games 2023 has started in Hangzhou. The continental competition of various sports has commenced from September 19 and will continue till October 7.
In the world of boxing, India is emerging as a progressing outfit. The results in the past Olympics, Asian Games and other competitions have been encouraging and the pugilists will be hoping for a decent outing in this edition of the Asian Games as well.

Boxing Federation of India (BFI) recently released the complete list of athletes who will take part in the Asian Games across various categories. A total of 13 pugilists will take part in the competition.
All of India's Boxing events will start from September 24 and will continue up to October 5. All the matches will be streamed live in India as well.
There are 13 athletes in the boxing squad for India for the Asian Games 2023, seven of them in the men's squad and the other six in the women's squad.
Deepak Bhoria (51 kg), Sachin Siwach (57 kg), Shiva Thapa (63.5 kg), Nishant Dev (71 kg), Lakshya Chahar (80 kg), Sanjeet (92 kg), Narender Berwal (92+ kg)
Nikhat Zareen (50 kg), Preeti Pawar (54 kg), Parveen Hooda (57 kg), Jaismine Lamboria (60 kg), Arundhati Choudhary (66 kg), Lovlina Borgohain (75 kg)
Lovlina Borgohain will also be one of India's flag-bearers in the opening ceremony.
India have so far notched 57 medals in boxing across the years, including 9 Gold medals.
In the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, the Indian contingent earned two medals, One Gold and One Bronze. Amit Panghal won Gold in men's 49 kg while Vikas Krishnan Yadav won Bronze in men's 75 kg department.
India's best Boxing outcome was in the 2010 Asian Games, where the pugilists racked up 9 medals (2🥇,3🥈, 4🥉). Vijendra Singh and Vikas Krishnan Yadav both won Gold Medals in that edition.
