Asian Games 2023: Despite a challenging face-off with Malaysia, where they suffered a 0-3 defeat, the Indian women's squash team progressed to the semi-finals in the team event and confirmed at least a bronze medal for the country in the ongoing continental showpiece.
In a fierce Pool B match against Malaysia that ended 0-3 in favor of the opposing team, the Indian women put up a fight but were unable to secure a win in a single match. The Indian squad is comprised of talented players Joshna Chinnappa, Anahat Singh, Dipika Pallikal, and Tanvi Khanna.

Senior India player Joshna Chinappa played the first tie in the best-of-three match. Chinappa lost in straight games to Subramaniam Sivasangari 6-11, 2-11, 8-11 as India trailed 0-1.
In the second tie, Malaysia's Aifa Aizman defeated Tanvi Khanna Tanvi 11-9, 1-11, 11-7, 13-11, 5-11. Khanna committed costly unforced errors in the final game and allowed Aizman to make a comeback and take the decisive game, giving Malaysia an unassailable lead.
The last match was to be played as each point earned or lost was calculated in the points table and teenager Anahat Singh faced Rachel Arnold. Anahat too lost the match 0-3 (7-11, 7-11, 12-14).

Despite suffering a setback with a 0-3 defeat, their previous victories in the group ties have kept the hopes of a possible gold medal alive. However, their defeat just a day ahead of the semis will come as a major setback for the side which has quality and experienced players in the ranks.
Starting their Asian Games campaign on a high note, the Indian women registered a resounding victory over arch-rival Pakistan. This victory set a triumphant tone for the next series of matches. Following this, the Indian squash side went on to defeat Nepal and Macao, maintaining their dominant position.
The ongoing journey of the Indian Women's Squash team in the Asian Games 2023 is both promising and exhilarating. But the road ahead is both challenging and promising as the team will be facing the undefeated Hong Kong team in the upcoming semi-finals.
