Jyothi Surekha Vennam clinched her third Gold medal in the ongoing 19th Asian Games in Hangzhou, marking a triumphant start to the final day of the games on Saturday, October 7.
Jyothi, who had previously secured gold in the mixed team and women's team events, emerged victorious in the final by defeating Korea's Chaewon So with a score of 149-145.

Although she had a somewhat shaky start with an 8-point round, Jyothi made a remarkable comeback, stringing together several consecutive 10-pointers and leading 89-87 after three rounds.
The last two ends of the competition showcased Jyothi's sheer dominance, as she prevented her Korean opponent from staging a comeback and secured the final victory with a four-point margin.
This Gold medal marked India's fourth in Archery at the ongoing Asian Games, including wins in the mixed team, women's compound team, and men's compound events. In total, India has now collected seven medals in the sport.
The day kicked off with Aditi Gopichand Swami securing a Bronze medal in archery by defeating Indonesia's Ratih Zilizati with a score of 146-140. This achievement brought India's total medal count to 97, including 23 Gold medals.
In other events, Ojas Pravin and Abhishek Verma competed against each other in an all-India men's individual final in the compound event, while the women's kabaddi team faced off against Chinese Taipei in the final. Consequently, the overall tally was set to reach 100 medals in just a few minutes.
India has already surpassed its previous best Asiad tally of 70 medals achieved in Jakarta in 2018 by a significant margin. The success has been attributed to outstanding performances in Shooting and Athletics, with contributions from archery, wrestling, equestrian, badminton, squash, and cricket as well.
