ROHIT YADAV GOES PAST 80m MARK IN RANCHI
World Championships 2022 finalist Rohit Yadav has entered the 80m club once again at the Federation Cup 2026.
The experienced Indian thrower registered 80.40m in the men's javelin throw final, adding another strong performance to his impressive 2026 season.
Rohit had earlier won the Indian Athletics Series-3 in New Delhi with a season-best throw of 82.17m - currently the best mark by an Indian javelin thrower this year.

Animesh Kujur wins 200m Gold, Falls Marginally Short of CWG Qualification Mark
After rewriting the National Record in the 100m earlier this week, Animesh Kujur added another gold medal to his Federation Cup 2026 campaign by winning the men's 200m final in Ranchi.
The Odisha sprinter clocked 20.64s to finish first, narrowly missing the Commonwealth Games qualification mark of 20.61s by just 0.03 seconds. But this is his season best so far.

Another good sprint performance from one of India's fastest men, but the CWG qualification chase continues.
Kujur remains the Indian national record holder in the men's 200m with a sensational timing of 20.32 seconds, achieved while winning bronze at the 2025 Asian Athletics Championships in Gumi, South Korea.

Yashas Palaksha produced the race of his life to win the men's 400m hurdles at the Federation Cup 2026 in Ranchi, clocking a sensational personal best of 49.00s.

Despite clinching the gold medal, the performance fell short of the standards she would have hoped for, especially with the Commonwealth Games qualification mark still out of reach.

Vithya Ramraj clinched the gold medal in the women's 400m hurdles at the Federation Cup 2026 in Ranchi, clocking 56.61s in the final.
Representing Tamil Nadu, Vithya comfortably finished ahead of the field, with Sinchal Kavera taking silver in 57.77s and Shravan Sachin securing bronze with 59.73s.
The race, however, was well outside Vithya's personal best and national record mark of 55.42s - a timing she jointly holds with legendary Indian hurdler P. T. Usha.
Despite not touching her best numbers today, Vithya once again underlined her dominance in Indian women's 400m hurdles with another national-level gold medal.

After being disqualified in the men's 10,000m for lane infringement earlier in the competition, Maharashtra's Shivaji M responded with a strong comeback performance to secure gold in the men's 5000m at the Federation Cup 2026 during the morning session.

The relay finals are also expected to produce high-quality competition after Indian quarter-milers delivered some of the best performances in the country's history earlier this week.
The men's 400m final witnessed a historic breakthrough when Vishal TK became the first Indian athlete ever to officially break the sub-45-second barrier after clocking a sensational national record of 44.98s.
Indian sprinting too entered a new era in Ranchi after Gurindervir Singh stormed to a stunning 10.09s national record in the men's 100m final.
