Indian golf fans have much to celebrate as Diksha Dagar secures her spot in the Paris 2024 Olympics. Dagar, a rising star and Ladies European Tour (LET) winner, qualified through her impressive world rankings, becoming a beacon of hope and inspiration for aspiring golfers in India.
At just 23 years old, Dagar has shown remarkable prowess, currently ranked 41st on the Olympic Golf Rankings. Her qualification for the Olympics was confirmed by the International Golf Federation last month, marking a significant milestone in her burgeoning career. Paris 2024 Special Page

Diksha's journey began at the tender age of seven, introduced to golf by her father, Colonel Naren Dagar, a former scratch golfer and an Indian Army officer. Despite being born with a hearing impairment, both Diksha and her brother, Yogesh, embraced the sport with determination and passion. Also Read: Indian Contingent For Paris 2024
Naren Dagar shared his thoughts on his daughter's Paris Olympic qualification, expressing immense pride and joy. "It's an honor and a source of pride for everyone because qualifying for the Olympics is a dream of every athlete. Yes, we are very happy and proud, and we thank everyone who supported Diksha," he said.
Reflecting on the arduous journey to the Olympics, Naren acknowledged the challenges they faced. "The qualifying process is a two-year-long process where Diksha played 56 tournaments, which is 56 weeks of golf. She has performed really well, and of course, the luck element is a little bit there, but there's also hard work and dedication," he added.
Diksha's performance over the past year has been exceptional, demonstrating her growth and potential. The Haryana golfer's father credited the support from various sponsors and organizations. "In the last year, Diksha has made fine progress in various aspects of her game. Many people support Diksha, including sponsors, the Sports Authority of India (SAI), and Hero. When I talk about 56 tournaments in a span of two years, it's a very expensive affair in terms of money, time, and effort," he noted.
Diksha also represented India at the Tokyo Olympics, and this will be her second Olympics on the trot. In her father's opinion, Diksha is now more prepared and optimistic. "This time, we are hoping for a good experience, and of course, there has been a change compared to the last Olympics. I must compliment SAI; they are doing a very good job with the athletes," her father remarked.
As the Paris Olympics approach, Naren Dagar outlined their preparation strategy. "We will try to keep in rhythm and peak at the right moment. Golf is anybody's game, so we just need to time it right. We will play 3-4 more tournaments before Paris to prepare," he explained.
With the support of her family, Diksha Dagar is poised to make her mark at the Paris 2024 Olympics, carrying the hopes of a nation eager to see her succeed on the global stage.
