The International India Series 2025 will debut at the iconic DLF Golf and Country Club in Gurgaon, bringing together top international golfing talent, including US Open champion Bryson DeChambeau, alongside India's finest.
As the historic event unfolds, two of India's ace golfers, Rahil Gangjee and SSP Chawrasia representing team Indian Challenge, shared their thoughts on the $2 million competition, the challenges of playing on this course, and the significance of this landmark tournament for Indian golf.

SSP Chawrasia, the 2017 Indian Open Champion and the last Indian to be crowned champion at this venue, returned to familiar territory with a mix of nostalgia and determination. Known for his exceptional short game, the 46-year-old Kolkata-born golfer believes his deep understanding of the DLF course could work in his favour despite tougher conditions this year.
"I feel amazing, to be honest, coming here after so long-maybe three years or something. The golf course is playing tougher than last time. The greens are faster and harder, which I think is the main challenge this week. But I'm looking forward to it. I have some great memories here and will try to apply all these experiences over the next four days."
Chawrasia, a veteran of the game, emphasised precision as the secret to conquering the challenging layout. "It's simple: hit straight and focus on putting from below 10 feet. That's key. If you can do that, you can beat any course and anyone."
When asked about competing against global stars like Bryson DeChambeau, Chawrasia welcomed the opportunity with excitement. "It's a great thing that he's here - wonderful for Indian golf. If I get the opportunity to play alongside him, I'll be happy to. The course is challenging for everyone, but hopefully, a good score will come out of it."
Rahil Gangjee enters the International India Series on the back of a stellar season, having secured his Asian Tour card courtesy of a third-place finish on the Asian Development Tour (ADT) Order of Merit. His two tournament wins-at the PKNS Selangor Masters in Malaysia and the BRG Open in Vietnam-helped him solidify his place among Asia's elite.
The 46-year-old last tasted victory on the Asian Tour in 2018 at the co-sanctioned Panasonic Open Golf Championship in Japan, an achievement that came 14 years after his maiden title at the Volkswagen Masters-China during his rookie season in 2004.
Reflecting on his form and the challenges posed by the DLF course, Gangjee shared his approach to the week ahead. "No matter how good you're playing, you always have to play even better. This is a fantastic track that's always in great condition, and this week is no exception-fast greens, tough conditions."
He further added, "I played yesterday afternoon, and it was really quick but still fun to play at DLF. The field is strong, and while I haven't had much of an off-season (I was unwell last month), I still feel good about my game. The key is staying positive and executing the shots."
Gangjee also highlighted the significance of hosting an event of this magnitude on Indian soil, emphasising its role in showcasing Indian talent and golf infrastructure to the world.
"It's been too long since we've had a big event here. Besides the Indian Open, there aren't many opportunities for large-scale tournaments. DLF hosting this event is fantastic, not just for Indian players but for putting Indian golf on the map. Events like this let the world see what our courses and players are all about."
For SSP Chawrasia and Rahil Gangjee, the International India Series 2025 represents more than just another tournament; it's a stage to showcase Indian golf's growing stature on the international stage. As they prepare to face the challenges of the DLF course and a competitive field, their experience and determination stand out.
The duo hopes to make a strong statement against some of the world's best, including heavy hitters like Bryson DeChambeau, and fellow Indian pros Anirban Lahiri and Shubhankar Sharma. As the week unfolds, all eyes will be on how these Indian stalwarts navigate the fast greens and tough conditions of the DLF Golf and Country Club.
