New Delhi, July 21: A day after Indian boxing star Vijender Singh claimed he is ready to fight British boxer Amir Khan any where in the world, the WBA lightweight world champion has warned the Indian dasher of consequences.

Khan has warned Vijender, who is only seven fights old in the professional boxing, that he (Khan) could destroy the Indian star's proffessional career.

In an interview to TOI, Khan warned Vijender and had some word of caution for him as well.

"I like Vijender, he is a great talent but sometimes you can't bite more than you can chew. It is too early in his career to try and challenge established boxers like me. If he fights with me at this time, it will destroy his professional career. This is not to disrespect him but he has to be smart while choosing opponents. There is a big difference between his and my level," he told the TOI.

The 29-year-old British star and former Olympic silver medallist went on to add that Vijender lacked experience at the top level.

"He has a great future ahead of him. He is skillful and wants to be the best but he has to gain of a lot of experience. He played a great match but at the moment he lacks experience. He wants to be at the level where I am. For that he needs to stay focused and keep winning. I became WBA light-welterweight champions at the age of 22, now I am 29," he added.

Earlier on July 20, Vijender, the new WBO Asia Pacific middleweight champion, said if he gets to fight with Amir Khan it will be the fight of the century.

"If it happens it will be a huge fight. I am ready for it, ready to take that challenge. That's my message to Amir. But I don't know if it will become a reality, it will the fight of the century, like Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao fight. I am ready to fight him anywhere," the Indian pugilist was quoted by India Today as saying.
