Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Jyotiraditya Scindia took prompt action to assist ace India Table Tennis player Manika Batra to get her lost baggage back safely.
Batra, on Tuesday (August 8), lost her baggage on the flight while returning from a tournament and sought the help of the Modi government.

Manika expressed her immense disappointment on her handle on X, formerly known as Twitter, regarding her recent experience with Dutch air carrier KLM. She had boarded a business class flight and had tagged her priority-tagged baggage, only to have it lost during the journey.
It was particularly distressing for the 28-year-old paddler from Delhi as her essential sports kit for an upcoming tournament was also in the missing bag. The airport staff were unable to provide any answers or solutions, leaving Manika frustrated and unsure about the whereabouts of her belongings. Seeking assistance, she reached out to Union Minister Scindia for help.
Taking cognition of her tweet, the Union Minister acted promptly and helped the athlete to get her baggage back. "Hi, the suitcase has been placed into the container bound for Delhi. We anticipate its arrival on today's flight, scheduled to land at 01:55 AM tomorrow," he wrote on X.
The athlete also thanked the minister for coming to her aide and helping. "Thank you so much @JM_Scindia sir and his office for prompt action and helping me in getting my baggage. I have received it this morning," Manika tweeted.
Unfortunately, Manika's participation in the WTT Contender Lima 2023 did not meet expectations as she exited the tournament in the Round of 32. Her opponent, Miu Hirano from Japan, proved to be a formidable challenge and secured a convincing 3-1 victory, advancing to the Round of 16.
Despite starting off strongly by winning the first set with a score of 11-7, Manika could not maintain her momentum against Hirano. The Japanese paddler made an impressive comeback and claimed victory in the following three sets, ultimately ending Manika's journey in this tournament.
