In the morning session on Wednesday (March 25), Reegan Ganesh delivered a moment to remember at the National Indoor Athletics Championships in Bhubaneswar, soaring to a personal best of 5.30m to clinch gold in the men's pole vault clearing the mark on his very first attempt. He even pushed the bar higher to 5.41m, showing fearless ambition despite missing out.

The former 100m national record holder stormed to victory, clocking a rapid 6.69 seconds.
He came agonisingly close to the national record, missing it by just 0.02 seconds-the mark of 6.67 seconds was set by V.K. Elakkiadasan in 2018.
All eyes now turn to the final, where Gurindervir Singh will face stiff competition from Animesh Kujur and Lalu Prasad Bhoi.

Animesh Kujur led the field in the men's 60m semifinal 1 with an impressive time of 6.71 seconds, narrowly edging out Lalu Prasad Bhoi, who clocked 6.72 seconds to finish second. Laukik Anant secured third place with 6.77 seconds, while Sourav Saha (6.92) and Abhinash Sahu (6.94) completed the top five. Mahendra Santa also featured among the finishers, while Jebin Sibi was disqualified. The race showcased a strong sprint battle, with Kujur continuing his fine form heading into the final.

Swadhin Kumar Manjhi had first reached this mark at last year's Inter-State Championships and has now matched it again.
In the process, he also outperformed favourite Sarvesh Kushare.
