Sakshi Malik to get married to Rohtak-based wrestler Satyawart Kadian

Rohtak, Sept 6: After accomplishing her dream of winning a medal at the Rio Olympics 2016, Sakshi Malik, who became first Indian female wrestler to win a medal at Olympics, may soon get married to a fellow wrestler.

24-year-old Sakshi became a nationwide sensation overnight after she bagged a bronze medal in wrestling 58kg Freestyle category at Rio Olympics 2016.

As per an Financial Express report, Sakshi will be tying the knot with wrestler Satyawart Kadian, who also hails from Rohtak and is two-years-younger than Malik.

The 22-year-old Satyawart is also an international wrestler and has won silver at the 2014 Glasgow Commonwealth Games in 97kg Freestyle category and also clinched a bronze at the Asian Championships, in the same year.

Satyawart also hails from a family of wrestlers and his father Satyawan also represented India at international events. His father also runs an akhada in Rohtak.

Satyawan was quoted by media reports as saying, "They (Sakshi and Satyawart) are getting married and it will be a huge affair. Satyawart trains here in my akhada when he is not competing or in the national camp."

Sakshi's brother has also confirmed that the wedding was fixed before Sakshi left for Rio.

Interestingly, Satyawart was among the first people to congratulate the Rohtak girl for winning bronze at Rio.

"My Sweetheart #SakshiMalik ? You have made us proud," Satyawart wrote on his Facebook page, which gave enough hints back then.

Earlier, she was also quoted by Anand Bazar Patrika as saying, "He is very supportive and considers my dream as his own. After marriage, I will get a good friend in him, who would also help me in my preparation. I believe marriage would have no negative bearings on my wrestling career."
