Pune, July 30: The Ultimate Table Tennis (UTT) 2023 Final will see defending champions Chennai Lions lock horns with Goa Challengers at the Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex, Mahalunge-Balewadi in Pune on Sunday (July 30).
Chennai Lions defeated Puneri Paltan Table Tennis in the second semi-final, while Goa Challengers registered a thrilling win in the first semi-final to reach the final

Chennai Lions will again expect a good show from veteran Achanta Sharath Kamal, who has been a critical player for Chennai. While World No. 33 Benedikt Duda and Yangzi Liu will look to continue their winning performance in the final for the defending champions.
Goa Challengers aim to continue their impressive run in the final as well. They will bank on India's highest-ranked men's singles paddler Harmeet Desai, who has been in fine form in the league. T Reeth Rishya and Alvaro Robles will also look to make an impact in the final tie of Season 4.

Reeth Rishya Tennison - who made her UTT debut in 2023 season - had left an indelible mark with her stellar show in this season, especially in the final. The youngster - who first defeated Sreeja Akula in the league stage - has a bright future ahead.
There were a total of 42 Golden Points (game tied at 10-points each) - which is the most in a season. Off these Goa Challengers have won most (10) by one team.
Goa Challengers are the Champions of the Ultimate Table Tennis Season 4 as they defeat Chennai Lions 8-7 in a nail-biting final. It was a sensational performance from Goa Challengers who put up some stellar show in the grand finale. It started with Harmeet Desai - the captain - beating Benedikt Duda in the men's singles game and young Reeth Tennison won the last tie of the evening by defeating Sutirtha Mukherjee 11-6. She lost the match 2-1 but ensured that she doesn't lose the match 3-0. The youngster showed some nerves in the end to blank Sutirtha who was looking in a menacing touch in the first two games. With this loss, the curse of defending champions losing the finals in the UTT came true once again.
Reeth Tennison concedes Golden Point to Suthirtha by making a foolish error. This has cost Goa Challengers Championship Point. Sutirtha Mukherjee wins the second game 11-10 despite trailing badly. Chennai and Goa are 7-7.
We now move on to the last match of the evening. Sutirtha Mukherjee of Chennai Lions faces Reeth Tennison of Goa Challengers. Sutirtha - who is highly experienced - needs to win it 3-0 for Chennai Lions to lift the title.
Alvaro Robles the higher-ranked Spaniard has defeated home favourite Sharath Kamal 3-0 (11-8, 11-8, 11-10) in men's singles tie. With this win, Goa Challengers have extended their lead to 7-5 against Chennai Lions.
Alvaro Robles wins the second game in the men's singles against Sharath Kamal 11-8 and the Spaniard has brought Goa Challengers in the lead in the overall tie score. Goa lead 6-5 now.
Alvaro Robles wins the first game of the second men's singles 11-8 against crowd favourite Sharath Kamal. Robles took an early lead in the first game and the Indian had a catching up to do throughout. Tie Score Chennai 5-5 Goa.

After winning the mixed doubles with Yangzi Liu, Sharath Kamal is again in the action for the men's singles match against Alvaro Robles (WR 46) of Spain. It is going to be a very important match of the evening.

Harmeet and Suthasini keep Goa's Challenge alive in the Final with a fantastic win in the third game of the mixed-doubles. Liu and Sharath won the match 2-1 (7-11, 9-11, 11-10) but Harmeet and Suthasini played took the third game via golden point and the tie score now stands 4-5 between Goa and Chennai.
Sharath Kamal and Yangzi Liu continued their strong show and defeated Harmeet and Suthasini 11-7, 11-9 in the mixed doubles contest. Harmeet and Suthisini were not in the mood to give up easily in the second game. After equalising 7-7. Harmeet and Suthasini took a lead but lost it soon after to 8-8. The score went 9-all after an 8-shot rally. But Sharath and Liu held their nerves well to win it 11-9. Chennai Lions thus lead the ties 5-3! Sharath and Liu will now be looking to extend the lead for Chennai by winning the mixed doubles 3-0.
Sharath and Liu - who were in phenomenal form last evening in the semis - seem to have started from where they left off. They've taken the first game 11-7 against Harmeet Desai and Suthasini Sawettabut. Chennai Lions go up for the first time 4-3 tonight.
On to the third match of the evening! Yangzi Liu and Sharath Kamal are paired against Harmeet and Suthasini in the mixed doubles match. Sharath and Liu have taken an early lead in the first game.
Yangzi Liu - WR 30 in women's singles - continued her unbeaten streak in the UTT intact as she defeated Suthasini Sawettabut 7-11, 11-6, 11-5 and take the match. The third game kept going neck-and-neck and the Chennai coach signalled Liu to stay calm and she did just that. Chennai Lions are back in the game as the ties are levelled at 3-3!

Yangzi Liu comes back strongly in the second game and claims it 11-6 against Suthasini Sawettabut. This is the second straight match which is going for a deciding third game. Goa Challengers lead the ties 3-2 against Chennai Lions.

Harmeet Desai wins the match 11-8 and gave Goa Challengers a 2-1 tie lead against Chennai Lions. Feeding over the buzz from the supporters in the arena, Harmeet played some powerful backhands to which the German had no answer.
Harmeet Desai equalises! The India No.1 - who is currently ranked 64th - came back strongly in the second tie to win it 11-4 against the German - who's ranked 32. It's 1-1 at the moment in this match and we are going to have a deciding third game.
Benedikt Duda - the experienced German paddler - takes 1-0 lead in the first match of the evening. Duda defeated Harmeet 11-6 in the first tie to give Chennai Lions a winning start.
