Mapusa (Goa), Jan 25: The WTT Star Contender Goa 2024 witnessed an impressive display of skill and determination from India's table tennis stars, as the dynamic duo of Manav Thakkar and Manush Shah stormed into the men's doubles quarterfinals with a convincing victory over Indonesia's Pang Yew En Koen and Avatar Quek Izaac at the Peddem Indoor Stadium in Mapusa, Goa.
The Indian pair, hailing from Gujarat, showcased their dominance over their Indonesian counterparts, clinching the match 11-7, 11-9, 11-5, much to the delight of the enthusiastic crowd in attendance.

Adding to the jubilation, Maharashtra's Taneesha Kotecha and Sayali Wani progressed to the women's doubles quarterfinals after defeating Sweden's Christina Kallberg and Filippa Bergand in a hard-fought encounter, securing an 11-9, 4-11, 11-8, 11-7 victory.
In the women's singles arena, India's Archana Kamath and Sreeja Akula showcased their prowess, with Kamath securing a place in the Round-of-32 by overcoming Spain's Maria Xiao 11-7, 13-11, 12-10, and Akula defeating France's Camille Lutz 11-5, 9-11, 11-7, 11-8. Akula is set to face Egypt's Hana Goda in the next round.
However, the journey ended early for India's Harmeet Desai in the men's singles event, as he bowed out in the opening round against Croatia's Andrej Gacina in a closely contested match.
Despite some setbacks, the Indian contingent continues to exhibit determination and resilience on the international stage, with promising talents like Archana Kamath and Sreeja Akula leading the charge.
The WTT Star Contender Goa 2024, co-hosted by Stupa Sports Analytics and Ultimate Table Tennis under the guidance of the Table Tennis Federation of India (TTFI), promises to offer more thrilling encounters as the tournament progresses.
