Indian Squash Medals at Asian Games 2023

The Asian Games 2023 held in Hangzhou witnessed Indian squash players leaving an indelible mark, particularly in the mixed doubles category. The mixed doubles pair of Dipikal Pallikal won a gold medal while the men's team also topped the podium in China.

Apart from Pallikal and Harinder, Anahat Singh and Abhay Singh displayed unparalleled skill and resilience, garnering praise from fans and critics alike. These victories not only celebrated national success but also demonstrated the heightened competitiveness of Indian squash on the global stage.

National Squash Championship Highlights

The 79th National Squash Championship further solidified the sport's prominence in India, with players like Anahat Singh, Tanvi Khanna, Velavan Senthil Kumar, and Abhay Singh making headlines. Their outstanding performances not only contributed to national success but also resulted in improved world rankings, reflecting the caliber of Indian squash players on an international scale.

Velavan Senthilkumar, in particular, had a breakout year, winning silver at the Asian Individual Championships in Hong Kong and securing four PSA titles in his first full year as a professional. His remarkable achievements also included clinching his maiden senior National crown.

Anahat Singh, another rising star in Indian squash, secured the U-15 title at the prestigious British Junior Open, medals at the Asian Games and Asian Mixed Doubles, and claimed the U-17 gold at the Asian Junior Championships. Aryaveer Dewan added to the list of achievements by winning the boys' under-15 title at the US Junior Open.

"The rigorous and competitive nature of squash was on full display, particularly at the Asian Games where players like Abhay Singh played a pivotal role in securing gold for the men's team and adding a bronze in partnership with Anahat Singh.

Arjuna Award For Harinder Pal Sandhu For Squash

Harinder Pal Sandhu's recognition was another highlight, as he became one of 26 sportspersons chosen for the prestigious Arjuna Award. Sandhu's achievement marked a significant moment for Indian squash, making him the 11th squash player to receive this coveted prize.

The competitive nature of squash was on full display at the Asian Games, where players like Abhay Singh played pivotal roles in securing gold for the men's team and adding a bronze in partnership with Anahat Singh.
