Nino Salukvadze Biography

Salukvadze's most memorable sporting achievement was competing at the 1987 World Cup event in Seoul, Republic of Korea. She represented the Soviet Union at the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul and competed for the Unified Team at the 1992 Games in Barcelona.

She has been representing Georgia since the 1996 Games in Atlanta. At the 2012 Olympic Games in London, she became the first athlete from any sport to represent Georgia at five editions of the Olympic Games. Four years later, she became the first Georgian athlete to compete at six Olympic Games.

Family Legacy

Nino's family has a strong connection to shooting sports. Her son, Tsotne Machavariani, represented Georgia in shooting at the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro. This made them the first mother and son to compete at the same edition of the Olympic Games.

Salukvadze has two children and resides in Tbilisi, Georgia. She is fluent in English, German, and Russian.

Throughout her career, Salukvadze has received numerous accolades. She was the flag bearer for Georgia at the opening ceremony of the 2012 Olympic Games in London. In 1989, she was presented with the Soviet Union Order of Merit. In 1993, she received the Order of Honour in Georgia.
