Nouchka Fontijn Biography

Fontijn initially practised taekwondo from the age of 14. She switched to boxing at 19 to improve her taekwondo skills. Her first boxing session was challenging but rewarding. Encouraged by her coach, she soon found herself training five days a week and competing in boxing matches.

Club and Coaching

Fontijn trains with Mesa Sport in the Netherlands. Her national coach is Hennie van Bemmel, while Abdul Fkiri serves as her personal coach. Their guidance has been instrumental in her development as a boxer.

Awards and Milestones

In 2014, Fontijn was named Sportswoman of the Year in Rotterdam. She made history by becoming the first female boxer to represent the Netherlands at the Olympic Games. At the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics, she won a silver medal in the middleweight category.

Fontijn aims to win gold at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo. Her dedication and hard work continue to drive her towards this goal.
