Oh made history at the 2012 London Olympics by becoming the first male archer from Korea to win an individual gold medal. At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, he became the oldest athlete from Korea to win a medal when he secured gold as part of the men's recurve team.
Oh has received several awards throughout his career. In 2021, he received a Grand Award at the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Sports Awards. He was named Best Archer of the Year by the Korean Archery Association in 2013 and received their Excellence Award in 2012.
