Barros' interest in skateboarding was sparked by his father's friends. They chose Florianopolis for its beaches and vibrant skating community. This environment nurtured Barros' passion for the sport. He credits his family as the most influential people in his career.

Career Highlights and Injuries

Throughout his career, Barros has faced several injuries. He rolled his ankle during the 2015 Skate Generation event in Florianopolis and injured his knee before the 2012 X Games finals in Los Angeles. Despite these setbacks, he won a gold medal at the Games. He has also suffered arm and collarbone fractures.

Philosophy and Achievements

Barros lives by the motto, "I never compete against someone, it's all about doing the best against myself." In 2017, he was nominated for the Action Sportsperson award at the Laureus World Sports Awards. His father, Andre, was also a professional skateboarder and served as chairman of the World Skate Institute in Brazil.

Barros believes that skateboarding's inclusion in the Olympic Games can elevate the sport's profile. He stated that while the Olympics may differ from skateboarding culture, it offers a massive platform to promote their message. Sanction

In February 2019, Barros received a six-month suspension from the Brazilian Anti-Doping Sports Court after testing positive for a marijuana derivative at the Vert Jam event in January 2018. The suspension was backdated to January 2018.

Barros resides in Brazil with his wife Elisa and is fluent in English and Portuguese. His hobbies include listening to music and playing guitar. His hero is Brazilian Formula One driver Ayrton Senna.
