Bol began his athletic journey at age 16 at St. Norbert College in Queens Park, WA. Initially involved in football and basketball, a teacher recognised his talent during a cross-country race and encouraged him to focus on athletics.

Training and Coaching

Bol trains primarily in Melbourne but spends the northern hemisphere summer in Leuven, Belgium. His training regime includes rest days on Fridays and Sundays if he covers more than 50 kilometres during the week. Since 2015, Justin Rinaldi has been his personal coach.

Club and Team

Bol is associated with the Victorian Institute of Sport (VIS) in Australia. He trains alongside Australian teammate Joseph Deng, who also has South Sudanese heritage. Both athletes grew up in Toowoomba, QLD.

Influences and Inspirations

Bol cites his parents as the most influential people in his career. His sporting idols include Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt and Kenyan middle-distance runner David Rudisha. His sporting philosophy is encapsulated by his motto: "Success. It's a mind game."

Personal Background

Born in Sudan, Bol's family fled to Egypt when he was six to escape civil war. Four years later, they moved to Australia and settled in Toowoomba. Bol credits his parents for their sacrifices and efforts to provide a better life for their children.

Early Recognition

At St. Norbert College, teacher Helen Leahy discovered Bol's running talent while filling places for a school race. With support from his parents and Leahy's family, Bol received shoes, club memberships, and funding for national competitions.

Business Ventures

In February 2020, Bol established Peter Bol Pty Ltd., offering services like keynote speaking, mentoring, high-performance coaching, personal training, and running coaching.
