Pippa Funnell Biography

Funnell made history in 2003 by becoming the first rider to win the Rolex Grand Slam of Eventing. She achieved victories at the Burghley Horse Trials, Kentucky Three-Day Event, and Badminton Horse Trials in the same year. Additionally, she was the first rider to win two titles at the Blenheim Palace International Horse Trials in 1995 and later won three and four titles in 2003 and 2004.

Awards and Honours

Funnell has received numerous accolades throughout her career. She was named BT Sport Action Woman of the Year in 2019. Alongside her husband William Funnell, she was inducted into the British Horse Society Hall of Fame. She was honoured with an MBE in 2006 and won the Sunday Times Sportswoman of the Year award in 2003. She has also been named BBC South Sports Personality of the Year.

Funnell has faced several injuries during her career. In April 2017, she sustained a concussion at the CCI3* event in Ballindenisk, Ireland.
