Rahmat's parents played a crucial role in his early training. "I began practising as a child because I was so proud of my dad," he recalls. Initially trained by his mother for almost a year, his father later took over. His mother was calmer, while his father was stricter, shaping Rahmat's disciplined approach to the sport.

Club and Coaching

Rahmat is affiliated with PABSI Sulawesi Selatan in Indonesia. He has received coaching from Dirdja Wihardja at the national level and his father, Erwin Abdullah. This combination of professional and familial guidance has been instrumental in his development as an athlete.

Injuries and Achievements

Despite facing injuries, Rahmat has shown resilience. He injured his right thigh while warming up at the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo but still managed to win a bronze medal in the 73kg category. In 2015, he also suffered an injury to his waist area but continued to compete at a high level.

Family Legacy

Rahmat's father, Erwin Abdullah, represented Indonesia in weightlifting and won a silver medal in the 69kg category at the 2002 Asian Games in Busan, Republic of Korea. His mother, Ami Asun Budiono, also competed at an elite level and has coached weightlifting in Indonesia. This strong family background has undoubtedly influenced Rahmat's career.
