Urán's journey into cycling started with a bike gifted by his uncle. His first race was a time-trial, which he won despite being unaware of the event's nature. He currently rides for EF Education - Nippo, a team based in the United States, under the guidance of national coach Carlos Mario Jaramillo.

Personal Life

Urán is married to Michelle and has two children, Matias and Carlota. He is fluent in Italian and Spanish. Despite his busy schedule as an athlete and business owner, he balances his family life effectively.

Injuries and Challenges

Throughout his career, Urán has faced numerous injuries. In 2021, he broke his little toe in a domestic accident. In 2019, he suffered a severe crash during the Vuelta a España, fracturing his collarbone and shoulder blade and sustaining a perforated lung. He returned to training in November 2019 after surgery.

Earlier in 2019, he broke his collarbone during the Paris-Nice race but returned to competition in May at the Tour of California. In 2014, he had to abandon the Vuelta a España due to severe asthmatic bronchitis. His injuries date back to 2007 when he broke both elbows, his left wrist, and his collarbone during the Tour of Germany.

In recognition of his contributions to cycling, Urán received the 'Cruz de Boyaca' in Colombia in 2012. This prestigious award highlights his dedication and achievements in the sport.
