Rosalind Canter Biography

Canter's achievements are numerous. She was named Professional Rider of the Year at the 2018 Horse & Hound Magazine Awards. In 2017, she received the Butler Bowl at the Badminton Horse Trials, awarded to the best British rider of the tournament.

Her success extends beyond eventing. Canter won a silver medal for Great Britain in equestrian jumping at the 2008 World University Equestrian Championships in Algiers, Algeria. She also played hockey for Sheffield Hallam University.

Personal Life

Ros Canter resides in Louth, England, with her partner Chris and their daughter Ziggy, born in 2019. She holds a degree in Sports Science from Sheffield Hallam University. Besides her professional commitments, she enjoys netball, hockey, diving, and spending time with friends and family.

Canter runs Ros Canter Eventing at her family's farm in Hallington. The facility offers training and livery services. Her personal coach is Caroline Moore from Great Britain.

Challenges and Triumphs

In July 2022, Canter faced a significant setback when her horse Allstar B died due to injuries sustained during the cross-country phase of the CCIO4*-S event in Aachen, Germany. Canter had taken over Allstar B's reins in 2013 and rode him to gold in both individual and team events at the 2018 World Equestrian Games in Tryon, NC, USA.

"There are no words for the love and respect that I have for Alby," Canter said. "Time after time he has shown his generosity, kindness, and love of our sport. He has been such a huge part in building my career and will be missed by many."

Looking ahead, Canter plans to continue her work at Ros Canter Eventing. She aims to further develop her training programs and expand her services to support more riders and horses.
