In the quarterfinals, Nagayama was defeated by Garrigos with a score of 0-10. Despite this setback, he continued to compete in the repechage round against Yang Yung Wei from Chinese Taipei. Nagayama won this match with a score of 1-0.

His final match for the bronze medal was against Salih Yildiz from Turkey. Nagayama emerged victorious with a score of 10-0, securing a bronze medal for Japan.
