Nimke resides in Schwerin with his wife Marlen and daughters Luise and Charlotte. He works in the Armed Forces and speaks German fluently. He pursued higher education in Policing at the College of Public Administration in Germany.

Sporting Journey

Nimke's cycling career took off in 1987 when he joined PSV Schwerin. His coach, Ronald Grimm, also hails from Germany. Nimke made his international debut in 1997 at the World Championships, representing Germany.

Achievements

One of Nimke's most memorable achievements is winning gold in the 1km time trial at the 2003 World Championships. His sporting philosophy is encapsulated by the motto, "A rolling stone gathers no moss."

Belated Champion

Nimke was part of the German sprint team that was promoted to gold medal position for the 2011 World Championships. This came after Gregory Bauge of the French team was suspended and stripped of his titles for missing three drugs tests.
