Svetlana Feofanova Biography

While still competing in gymnastics, Bondarenko suggested she take up pole vaulting. This marked the beginning of her new athletic career. She joined the Dinamo club in Moscow and has been training under Bondarenko since 1997.

International Debut and Achievements

She made her international debut in 1998, representing Russia. Her dedication and hard work have earned her numerous accolades. In 2003, she was decorated with the Order of Friendship by the Russian president for her high sports achievements.

In 2009, she received the Order of Merit for the Fatherland [Second Grade]. Additionally, she was awarded the Diploma of Honour by the city of Moscow in July 2002 for her outstanding contribution to athletics. The International Association of Athletics Federations [IAAF] also recognised her five world indoor records set that year with a plaque.

Challenges and Injuries

Her career has not been without challenges. She missed the 2005 outdoor season due to a herniated disc. In 2009, foot and hand injuries prevented her from competing in the World Championships. Despite these setbacks, she continued to excel in her sport.
