Mumbai, Aug 30: Veteran tennis player Mahesh Bhupathi lashed out at his wife Lara Dutta on Twitter after the actress made a hilarious tweet in the wake of incessant rain in Mumbai.

The actress joined several Bollywood celebrities on the social media appealing their fans to stay indoor and prevent traveling as the rain in Mumbai has brought the maximum city to a halt.

The actress, a former Miss Universe, shared an image on her Twitter handle in which she revealed how she's preventing the rain water from entering into her house. Lara used the towels used by her husband at Grand Slam tournaments such as Wimbledon, US Open, Australian Open and French Open on the floor.

She wrote on her handle, "Putting our Wimbledon, US Open, Aus Open &French Open towels to good use!😄@Maheshbhupathi #MumbaiRain.Stay safe & indoors if possible folks!"

The actress' move didn't go down well with her husband as the tennis star expressed his anger towards his on the social media.

"Are u kidding me !!!! That's years of hard work 😡😡😡," replied Bhupathi to his wife's pun.

Not just Bhupathi, several of her fans criticised the actress for insulting the hard work of a sportsperson. While there were also those who took the entire episode as a joke and gave a laugh at it.

Meanwhile, all educational institutions will remain shut due to the Mumbai rains. Heavy downpour will continue on Wednesday, the met department has warned.

The low-pressure area which caused the deluge will shift towards Gujarat by Wednesday afternoon and then move to the Arabian Sea, the weather department also said.

The state government announced a holiday for all educational institutions in Mumbai on Wednesday. Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis asked people to stay at home unless there is an emergency.
