Titouan Castryck, a promising canoe slalom athlete from France, has been making waves in the sport. Born on 28 August 2004 in Saint-Malo, Castryck has shown significant potential in the Men's Kayak Single (K1) event. He currently ranks second in the world for this discipline.

In the 2024 season, Castryck ranked 20th in the World Cup standings for Kayak Single. The previous year, he achieved fifth place and sixth place in Kayak Cross. His best World Cup performance came in 2023 when he won first place in K1 at Vaires-sur-Marne, France.
Castryck is set to compete in several key events this August. On 1 August, he will participate in the Men's Kayak Single Final at Vaires-sur-Marne WW Stadium. The event will feature competitors from countries like Sweden, Austria, and Spain.
Following that, he will compete in the Men's Kayak Cross Time Trial on 2 August at the same venue. This event will include athletes from nations such as Croatia, New Zealand, and Ireland.
Castryck began canoe slalom at age seven in Cesson-Sevigne. He made his World Cup debut in 2021 at La Seu d'Urgell. His mother, Anne Boixel, is a two-time Olympian and six-time world championship medallist in women's K1.
He benefits greatly from his mother's experience. "I've never talked to Mum about the Olympics as much as I am talking to her now," Castryck said. "She is helping me prepare for what to expect this summer."
Castryck aims to cross the finish line in the final at the Paris 2024 Olympic Games with French boats taking first and second place. His long-term goal is to continue excelling in canoe slalom and bring more medals home for France.
Besides his athletic career, Castryck is also a student of Sport Management at the University of Strasbourg. Balancing academics and sports, he represents ASCK Les Poissons Volants club based in Cesson-Sevigne.
Castryck looks up to Jiri Prskavec from the Czech Republic and Boris Neveu from France. Prskavec is a two-time Olympic K1 medallist and an 11-time world championship medallist. Neveu has competed in the Olympics and has won 16 world championship medals.
Castryck's notable achievements include being a two-time junior world champion in K1 (2021, 2022). He also claimed junior K1 team bronze in 2021 and silver in 2022. Additionally, he won his first World Cup event in K1 in 2023.
As Titouan Castryck continues to train and compete, his journey promises to be one to watch closely. With his mother's guidance and his own dedication, he is well-prepared for future challenges and successes.
