Valeriia Koblova Olympics

Koblova made her international debut in 2011 at the World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey, representing Russia. Over the years, she has achieved significant milestones. In 2016, she won a silver medal at the Rio de Janeiro Olympic Games. This achievement earned her the Order for Merits to the Fatherland [first class] in Russia.

Challenges and Injuries

Throughout her career, Koblova faced several injuries. In 2012, she injured her shoulder and missed a month of competition. A knee injury in 2015 prevented her from competing in the European Games in Baku. In 2017, she ruptured her cruciate ligament during the World Championships in Paris, requiring surgery.

Hiatus and Return

After her knee surgery in 2017, Koblova took a break from wrestling. During this period, she gave birth to her daughter Floriana in 2019. She returned to competition at the 2020 National Championships in Kazan. Despite the challenges, her desire to return to wrestling never waned.

Koblova credits her coach Oleg Chernov and her husband Dmitry as the most influential people in her career. She also looks up to Alexander Karelin, a renowned Russian Greco-Roman wrestler.

Koblova holds the title of Honoured Master of Sport in Russia. Her contributions to wrestling have been recognised through various awards and honours over the years.
