Leonardo's early exposure to bouldering led him to represent his school and organisation. As new facilities were built, he expanded his training to include lead and speed climbing. He trains five days a week under the guidance of national coach Hendra Basir.

Club and Achievements

Leonardo is affiliated with the West Kalimantan club in Indonesia. His dedication and hard work paid off when he won the Best Male Athlete award at the 2022 Indonesian Sports Journalists Association (SIWO PWI) Awards.

Balancing Sport and Studies

Leonardo has faced challenges balancing his studies with his sporting career. In 2015, he took a six-month break from climbing to focus on his education. Despite this, he returned to the sport for the sake of his comrades in West Kalimantan.

He began studying seriously in 2014, which coincided with his decision to pursue climbing professionally. This period was challenging as he competed at city and provincial levels without much support for national competitions.

Current Occupation

In addition to his athletic pursuits, Leonardo works as a civil servant at the Ministry of Youth and Sports in Indonesia. This role adds another layer of responsibility to his already busy schedule.

Future Ambitions

Looking ahead, Leonardo aims to compete at the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris. This goal reflects his commitment to excelling in sport climbing on an international stage.
