Career Highlights and Achievements

Throughout her career, Venus has faced several injuries, including knee tendinitis in 2010 and wrist injuries. In 2011, she was diagnosed with Sjogren's syndrome but returned to play in March 2012. Despite these challenges, she has achieved numerous accolades.

Venus and Serena were named Doubles Team of the Year and Fans Favourite Doubles Team of the Year in 2009. Venus received ESPY awards for Best Female Athlete and Best Female Tennis Player in 2002 and Best Female Tennis Player of the Year in 2006. She was also named Sportswoman of the Year by Sports Illustrated in 2000.

Personal Interests and Ventures

Beyond tennis, Venus has diverse interests such as Asian antiques, dancing, writing poetry, reading, sewing, studying new subjects, getting the mail and receiving packages, being at home, and playing the guitar. She is also an author and entrepreneur.

In 2010, she co-authored a book titled 'Come To Me' with Kelly E. Carter. The book features interviews with influential figures like Sir Richard Branson and Condoleezza Rice. Additionally, Venus is a certified interior decorator and founded V*Starr, a design firm. She launched her sportswear line EleVen after obtaining an associate degree in fashion design.

Philanthropy and Personal Loss

Venus and Serena founded the Venus and Serena Williams Tutorial and Tennis Academy for inner-city children in Los Angeles. This initiative reflects their commitment to giving back to the community.

In 2003, Venus faced personal tragedy when her sister Tetunde Price was shot dead near their childhood home in Compton. Despite this loss, Venus continues to inspire many with her resilience and dedication both on and off the court.

Future Plans

Looking ahead from July 2024, Venus plans to continue her involvement in various ventures beyond tennis. Her focus remains on expanding her business interests while contributing to philanthropic efforts.
