Nisha Dahiya's triumph at the World Olympic Qualifiers in Istanbul not only secured her a Paris 2024 berth but also marked a historic moment for Indian women's wrestling.
With her victory, she clinched India's fifth quota spot for the upcoming Olympics 2024, a testament to her skill and determination on the mat. Reflecting on her performance, Nisha expressed her satisfaction, stating: "It feels great, I did everything as per the plan and what I had planned happened."

Her strategic approach and execution paid off, propelling her to victory against formidable opponents. Recalling her challenging quarterfinal bout against Adela Hanzlickova, Nisha admitted, "The Quarterfinal bout was quite difficult for me and I have played with that wrestler before (2022 World Championships) and had also won."
Despite facing adversity, she remained resilient, ultimately emerging victorious and advancing to the next stage. In the Asian Olympic Wrestling Qualifiers, where Vinesh Phogat, Anshu Malik, and Reetika Hooda grabbed tickets for Paris, the only Indian wrestler who could not reach the semifinals was Nisha Dahiya (68kg).
Acknowledging her previous setbacks in the Asian Qualifiers, Nisha revealed, "I didn't perform well in the Asian Qualifiers, had a tough fight in the main qualifiers, had a good plan for the World Qualifiers and was successful, aakhri mauka tha, poora zor lagana tha (It was my last chance, had to give it my all)."
Her ability to learn from past experiences and adapt her strategy contributed to her success on the world stage. Looking ahead, Nisha emphasised her commitment to improvement, stating, "I will focus on my shortcomings and perform well." Her dedication to refining her skills underscores her determination to excel in future competitions.
Nisha's journey to win a spot for India in wrestling at the Paris Olympics shows how talented and determined she is. Getting ready to compete internationally, her story reminds us that working hard and never giving up can make dreams come true.
